Looking for new ideas and projects for volunteering summer camps in Ukraine in 2022

Our association is looking for new ideas and projects for international volunteer camps in Ukraine during the summer season of 2022.

Every year, the CSO All-Ukrainian Youth Cooperation Association “AlternativaV” coordinates international volunteer camps in cooperation with local partners with participants from around the world. Volunteer camps take place during summer in different regions of Ukraine, in general for 2 weeks.
The projects take the form of a work camp. During the first half of the day (4-5 hours per day) international group of volunteers, which consists of 10-15 people (the number of representatives from one country does not exceed 2 (exceptions possible) ; the total number of foreign volunteers will be determined independently for each project, depending on project needs) and will carry out community outreach work for the local community: Improvement of the territory and premises of schools, orphanages, boarding schools, rehabilitation centers and other social institutions, reconstruction and restoration of architectural monuments, Organizing an activities for local children and adolescents, preparing festivals and awareness-raising events on human rights, child protection and other typical issues of society. After the work, participants exchange cultural values, language and traditions, from their country between each other but also learn many aspects about Ukraine.
The most important principles for the organization of the volunteer camps :
– The work performed by volunteers must be relevant and important for the local community,
– The local community must be involved in the implementation of the project,
– The results of the work carried out by the international team of volunteers must be respected.
Typically, the language of communication in the volunteer camp is English (although the level of English proficiency of different participants may vary greatly), so sometimes Ukrainian and Russian are used together with English.
Volunteers work together on the project and also share the responsibilities of cooking and cleaning when necessary.
The AUAYC “Alternativa-V” is looking for new partners and projects for the summer of 2022 under these conditions:
– our association provides the project with foreign volunteers from Ukraine, provides trained leaders of the volunteer camp;
– expects that a local partner will be able to offer the international volunteer team accommodation and/or meals free of charge for the entire duration of the project. The accommodation of the volunteers by the group is desired. We are considering the possibility of providing food for the participants or having it cooked by the volunteers themselves.
– it is expected that a local partner will be able to provide work for an international group of volunteers that is really important for the local community;
– we expect that a local partner will be able to offer a cultural program or options for spending a part of the evening with the international group of volunteers, this can be subsidized by the association.
