UAALT-4 “Rokyni Open-Air Museum” – International Volunteer Camp to be held again
In the picturesque corner of Volyn near Lutsk is the Museum of Volyn Agricultural History – Skansen – an amazing exposition of the past Ukrainian people. Here you can see the things that will tell about the emergence of agriculture, the introduction of animal husbandry, life and cultural heritage of Volyn. And this is where volunteers from around the world gather again to help the museum revive and where two international volunteer camps have already been held in 2017 and 2018. 13 and 12volunteers from different countries of the world have already participated in the international squabble on Volyn land.
During the camp volunteers restored billboards and entrance gates, thinned and cleaned the arboretum, tiled walls on one of the houses and a chapel, treated a recently transported hut with antiseptic, whitened one of the houses, made a picket fence in the Kozatsky winterhouse, , brought hay from hayfields and performed other works in the Museum.
At the same time volunteers had participated in exciting activities. In particular, they participated in workshops for the manufacture of traditional hand-made dolls and clay whistles; prepared national Ukrainian dishes; conducted sightseeing excursions to Lubart Castle, Volyn Regional Museum, Honey House, sculpture house of sculptor Mykola Golovan; visited the Banderstat festival and visited the Volyn Youth Center, where they exchanged experiences of youth work practice. It allowed foreigners to learn more about national peculiarities of Ukraine. The work of volunteers in Skansen has been covered on many Ukrainian TV channels, radio and newspapers.
So this year, the
All-Ukrainian Association for Youth Cooperation Alternative-V and the Volyn
Brotherhood International Public Association decided to hold the UAALT-4
International Rokyni Open-Air Museum Volunteer Camp again.
The camp is scheduled to be held between July 28 and August 10, 2019. It is planned to involve 15 volunteers in the project implementation (10 foreigners and 5 Ukrainians) .
These two weeks of living in the picturesque corner of the Volyn region are
a perfect opportunity to make your own efforts to improve the territory of the
Volhynia-Skansen Museum of Agricultural History as well as to become more
acquainted with the traditions and culture of Ukrainians. This is a great
chance to make new friends from all over the world!
Let’s discover Ukraine together!
